Kathy Collins is the loving and caring wife of Doug Collins former four-time All Star NBA player, who was the first overall pick of the NBA Draft in 1973, after his retirement he coached the Pistons, the Bulls and his former team the 76ers, Collins is currently an analyst on ESPN Pre-game show NBA countdown along Jalen Rose and Sage Steele.

Kathy Collins’ husband the great Doug Collins born in Christopher, Illinois on July 28, 1951 became a star basketball player at Benton High School and Illinois State University. He was the first overall pick selected by the Philly 76ers in the first round of the 1973 NBA Draft. Collins along Julius Erving enjoyed a successful NBA career that in Collins’ case ended in 1979 after an injury on the knee and foot.

Collins became assistant coach at the University of Pennsylvania and Arizona State before he was named head coach for the Chicago Bulls in 1986, nine years later he was named head coach of the Detroit Pistons, Collins was named head coach of the Washington Wizards in 2001 and stayed there for the next two years when he was fired. After that happened he became an analyst for NBC Sports and game announced for TNT.

Doug Collins’ final head coaching job came with his dear Philadelphia 76ers in May, 2010. He resigned on April 18, 2013 and stayed as the team’s adviser, Collins explained his family coped with being away from him after all the years he spend playing and then coaching, it was time for him to give them back the time they deserved.

Doug Collins didn’t remain far from the basketball court for long, he manages to work as an analyst on the NBA on EsPN Pre-game Show NBA Countdown and spend precious time with his beloved family, and for that his wife Kathy Collins is extremely grateful!

64-year-old Kathy Collins born Kathy Ann Stieger May, 1951 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she graduated from Illinois `state University, Kathy  and Doug Collins have been married for nearly 41 years, together they have two children, Chris Ryan Collins born April 20, 1974 and daughter Kelly A. born December, 1977.

Their son Chris Collins now married to Kim Collins (nee. Walicki) mother of his two children Ryan and Kate, graduated from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology, he followed his famous father’s coaching example and worked as assistant coach of the Detroit Shock, Seton Hall and Duke University before becoming Northeastern’s head coach in 2013.

Their daughter Kelly, married since July 5, 2003 to Paul Romanczuk (head basketball coach at Archbishop Carroll High) and momma of three children, Cooper, Collin and Riley; Kelly Collins Romanczuk graduated from Lehigh University with a degree in education and psychology, while at Lehigh, Kelly also played basketball, she is today a fifth grade teacher in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
