Meet Ashley Evans Clarett
Ashley Evans Clarett is the girlfriend of former NFL player, Maurece Clarett. Reports say her man has been arrested for DUI. Maurece –who following his release from Ohio state –became an entrepreneur, motivational speaker and author, was busted by Ohio State Highway Patrol.
After he refused to submit a blood test, he was canned on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OVI). The 32-year-old was arrested for the OVI and also cited for a turn signal violation.
He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the third round in 2005 NFL draft, but never played a down in the league.
Clarett stood out during the Buckeyes’ national championship-winning 2002 season, running for 1,237 yards—a school record for a freshman—and 16 touchdowns. Following that impressive campaign, he unsuccessfully challenged the NFL’s minimum draft age.
The Denver Broncos gambled on Clarett in the third round of the 2005 draft and subsequently cut him before he appeared in a preseason or regular-season game.
His current incident, is not much of a shocker when you think about the controversial life the former running back has lead outside the field. Clarett is no stranger to prison, he was pleaded guilty for robbery and concealed weapons charges that sent him to prison for more than three years. He was released in April 2010, and his probation stemming from the arrest ended in February 2015.
Following his release, Clarett’s speaking career has taken off, especially after the 2013 release of “Youngstown Boys,” an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary about Clarett and his former Ohio State coach, Jim Tressel. Clarett estimates he has done 120 appearances in the past two years, speaking to kids, corporations and church groups.
He describes being a successful entrepreneur and a street hustler; a drug dealer, a drug and alcohol abuser and a depressive. But he is also a caring father. He and Ashley Evans are the parents to 9-year-old Jayden.
Ashley Evans Clarett has also been in trouble with the law herself. According to Deadspin, in 2012, Ashley then 30, was charged with domestic violence and assault.
At the time, Maurice accused his baby mama of biting him on the wrist and chest and of punching him in the face with a closed fist.
In an ESPN article from last August, Ashley is described as his fiancé, so we can’t tell for sure their current status. While some sources say they are boyfriend and girlfriend, others say they are already husband and wife.
One thing is for sure, Ashley Evans Clarett is the one who’s stuck with him through everything. Will she do it one more time?
