Maria Sharapova is one of the greatest tennis players, actually she is ranked World No. 2 by the Women’s Tennis Association, she is the top Russian player and the only one in the top 10. Sharapova is dating 21-year-old Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov, her first public relationship after breaking off her engagement to NBA player Sasha Vujacic last year.
It is rumored the couple has been dating for months but had never confirmed the relationship. Paparazzi managed to photograph them together after Dimitrov’s win over Novak Djokovic at the Madrid Open, and Maria finally confirmed they are dating!
21-year-old Grigor Dimitrov is currently ranked No. 28 in the world. Reportedly, he dated Serena Williams in the past.
Dimitrov was born on May 16, 1991 in Haskovo, Bulgaria. He is the only child of father Dimitar, a tennis coach and mother Maria, a sports teacher and former volleyball player. His mother gave him his first tennis racket at the age of three, and he began to play daily when he was 5 years old.
As a child, Dimitrov was coached by his father at Tennis Club Haskovo. Then he trained at Patrick Mouratoglou’s Tennis Academy in Paris, France. Since his junior career he has had several nicknames, including G-Force, Dimi, PT (Prime Time) and Baby Fed.
Grigor Dimitrov is the first and only Bulgarian to reach an ATP final in singles in 2013 and doubles in 2011, as well as the only Bulgarian male player to reach the 3rd round of a Grand Slam tournament in 2013 at Roland Garros.
