Joe Mantiply wife Ella Mantiply, was born Ella Katherine Miller on January 9, 1991, in Washington, Virginia. Ella Mantiply is one of the children born to nurse practitioner Ann Holmes Miller and Brooke Miller, a Physician and University of Virginia alumni. Her family has been the owner of Ginger Hill Angus for nearly 10 generations. Ella has three siblings: sister Amanda Miller Kita and brothers Henry and David Miller.
Ella Mantiply graduated in 2009 from Highland School and in 2016, with a degree in physical therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she also was a member of the softball team. Ella also played softball at Virginia Tech, where she graduated in 2013. She worked as a physician at Mountainside Physical Therapy Inc. in Washington, Virginia, and later at Foothills Sports Medicine Physical Therapy in Surprise, Arizona.
She met Joe Mantiply while they were in school and dated for several years before getting married on October 29, 2016.
“My wife, I met while I was in school here, and she’s a physical therapist, so she’s very studious and a lot smarter than I am.
So she was probably the main one to push me to finish school and make sure I get it done.
They have two beautiful daughters together, Katherine Brooke born in 2019 and Emma Mae Mantiply born in 2022.

Mantiply was initially picked by the New York Mets in the 48th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft right after his graduation from Tunstall High School, located in Dry Fork, Virginia.
However, instead of signing with the Mets, he decided to further his education at Virginia Tech and played college baseball there. During the summer of 2010, he took part in summer baseball with the Bethesda Big Train, a team in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League.
The following year, in 2011, he participated in collegiate summer baseball with the Harwich Mariners, a team in the Cape Cod Baseball League. After his junior year, the Philadelphia Phillies offered him a spot in the 28th round of the 2012 MLB Draft, but he chose not to sign. He went back to Virginia Tech to complete his senior season.

- Post his senior season, Mantiply was picked up by the Detroit Tigers in the 27th round of the 2013 MLB Draft. His professional debut happened that same season with the Connecticut Tigers.
- He began his career as a starting pitcher but transitioned to a relief pitcher in 2014. He started the season with the West Michigan Whitecaps and later got promoted to the Double-A Erie SeaWolves.
- His major league debut occurred on September 3, 2016.
New York Yankees:
- On November 8, 2016, the New York Yankees claimed Mantiply off waivers.
- The Yankees released him on November 28, only to sign a new minor league contract in December 2016.
- Mantiply opted for free agency on November 6, 2017.
Cincinnati Reds:
- Mantiply signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds on November 13, 2017.
- He underwent Tommy John surgery on March 9, 2018, which ruled him out for the rest of the year.

Second Stint with the New York Yankees:
- Mantiply was traded back to the New York Yankees in exchange for cash considerations on August 9, 2019.
- Two days later, the Yankees selected his contract.
- He made his 2019 debut on August 12, against the Baltimore Orioles and earned his first major league win after relieving Chad Green for three innings.
- However, he was designated for assignment the next day and became a free agent at the end of the 2019 season.

- Mantiply signed a minor league deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks on January 20, 2020.
- His contract was selected to the active roster on September 1, 2020.
- He played in 4 games, with a 0–0 record and a 15.43 ERA in 2.1 innings pitched.
- The Diamondbacks designated him for assignment on September 28, 2020.
- He re-signed on a minor league deal on November 2, 2020.
