Margaret “Meg” Murray is the wife of senior sports writer Ivan Maisel. She and her husband have been making headlines since February when their son Max went missing; unfortunately reports say Max’s remains have been found.
Their son is presumed to have drowned on Feb. 22, shortly after he turned 21. According to reports their son, Max a third year professional photographic illustration student, was last seen on February 21st leaving the Perkins Green apartment complex. After a near two-month search his body has been identified.
His vehicle was located parked near the Charlotte Pier on February 23rd, but his whereabouts remained unknown. According to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle Police had searched the waters near the Charlotte Pier multiple times but had come up empty prior to Friday’s discovery.
Meg along with her husband released a statement:
We knew this day would come, and we are relieved that it has. But it is merely the postscript to our sad story. We have mourned Max from the night that the Rochester police called to tell us he was missing. There was no other plausible solution to the puzzle he left behind.
In an online eulogy posted online by her husband, Max is described in detail by Ivan and also reveals “There is circumstantial evidence to indicate that Max intended to take his own life.” The suicide would come as a result of mental illness.
Meg and her husband are the parents of two other children, daughter Elizabeth and Sarah Maisel
Both of Meg’s daughters attend Stanford University.
According to her Facebook profile, Meg is originally from Syracuse NY and currently resides in Fairfield, Connecticut.
We send the family our deepest condolences.
