Currently ranking at number 9 as of August this year is 27-year-old French tennis player Richard Gasquet! He’s had better times though his highest position in 2007 was number 7. The Béziers, France native is also famous for his lame excuse to a positive cocaine test and a two-year ITF ban at the Sony Ericsson Open back in March 2009.
Don’t remember? Well Richard said at the time, he consumed cocaine because of a kiss! Yep! Almost five months later, a three-lawyer tribunal with the ITF concluded that Gasquet did in fact consume the cocaine from the kiss, ending his ban! Apparently he didn’t like it!
He was somehow linked to French Business man Arnaud Lagardere but his partner is Belgian model Jade Foret . The couple is been spotted at Richard’s matches, so they are probably big fans right! But according to French magazine Le Point, Richard was having an affair with the then 46-year-old married man!
Richard who at the young age of nine, was on cover of French Tennis Magazine back in 1996 hasn’t been all that popular around girls, could it be someone broke his heart pretty bad and wants nothing to do with them? He’s been kind of wild but so far no steady relationships we know of! We can see him below having some fun with some dancers at a club but he was actually there with fellow French player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
In fact his sexuality has been a matter of question! And has had to clear up more than once the rumors of him being gay. During an interview for his appearance at the Shanghai Tennis Masters Cup he was asked:
Who is the girl watching your match with your uncle? To which the Frenchman replied:
Not my girl. I don’t know. Not my girl, for sure. No, no, no, I have just friends. Men friends, but I’m not gay.
In 2008 Gasquet launched ‘The Richard Gasquet Foundation’, which aims to help adolescents who struggle to find their place in society and who suffer from a lack of confidence; which we applaud him for but see any comparisons? Maybe there is a reason for his interest to help the youth and enable them to rediscover the joys of life?
