Former San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who retired last year, said he will never return to the NFL after rumors of a very lucrative offer for a new contract from his team. He told TMZ that “retired life is just too good to give up… life after the game is so amazing” and added that there’s no way he’d ever accept another contract.

“I’m good, I’m not coming back… I’m retired. I love retirement life.”

LaDainian Tomlinson is married to LaTorsha Oakley. The couple met when they were both students at TCU. LaTorsha was on an academic scholarship, a Bill Gates Millennium Scholar, and her husband on an athletic scholarship. They met through a friend of LaDainian’s at a Greek Party and they’ve been together ever since.

LaTorsha Oakley married her famous fiancée on March 21st, 2003. Sadly, in 2005 LaTorsha suffered a miscarriage. Her husband said:

“It’s been very difficult for us. You really think you’re in control of your life and then something comes along and slaps you in the face. It makes you realize you’re not in control.”

But after years trying to conceive, LaTorsha Tomlinson became pregnant in 2009. On November 2009 before a game, LaDainian found a small gift in his locker from his wife, LaTorsha. The note attached read, “Open immediately!” He did, and inside he found a pregnancy test from her. It was positive and will be their first child.

A shocked Tomlinson broke the news to the media after the game:

“It was weird,” he said in the postgame press conference. “I thought it was going to be a necklace or something. It was a pregnancy test.”

Their son, 2-year-old Daylen Oliver, was born on July 8, 2010. Later, LaTorsha and her husband were blessed with a daughter named Dalah.

LaTorsha Oakley says her husband is a family man, he prefers to stay at home with them instead of partying with friends. She said:

“I had to beg him, that night after he broke the record (in 2006), I begged him to go out. It was an issue, he wanted to just hang out at home. I kept telling him, you broke the record, you can’t go home and just watch SportsCenter and play with your dog. Your teammates are out, you need to go! It would be very weird if you just stayed home.”

The family is now enjoying some quality time together after the NFL player’s retirement. In August 2012, Tomlinson joined the cast of NFL Network’s Sunday morning show First on the Field as an analyst.
