Fred Warner’s parents separated when he was very young, leaving his mother to raise him and his siblings sister Mya and brother Troy as a single parent. Warner found his passion for football at the age of seven, after trying out various sports. Both he and his mother credit football for providing him with a supportive community during his adolescent years. Despite admiring several players from the San Diego Chargers, Warner, like his father, grew up cheering for the Dallas Cowboys.
