As a player, Sam Fuld, a former outfielder, played for the Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Rays, Oakland Athletics, and the Minnesota Twins. Before going pro, he played college baseball at Standford University.

Sam Fuld was born on December 20, 1981, in Durham, New Hampshire; he is the son of Amanda Merrill and Kenneth Fuld. Ken Fuld, who graduated with a P.h.D. in psychology from Dartmouth College and a B. A from Northeastern University was dean at the University of New Hampshire and also was postdoctoral at Brown University.

Amanda Merill (b. May 9, 1951), Sam’s mother, served as secretary of State in New Hampshire. She graduated with a B.A. from the University of New Hampshire in 1974 and a Ph.D. from Dartmouth College in 1978.

Mrs. Merrill Fuld was a member of the New Hampshire Senate from Durham, serving from 2008 to 2012. In addition to Sam Fuld, Amanda and Kenneth Fuld are the proud parents of their daughter Anna Fuld who resides in Round Rock, Texas.

Anna Fuld, Sam Fuld’s beautiful sister, graduated in 2004 from Brewster Academy; in 2009 got her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and a degree in Human resources management and Services from Northeastern University in 2015.

Anna Fuld is a People Business Partner at RealWork Labs in Austin, Texas; before that, she held that same position at The Zebra; from 2019-2020 was a Human Resources Business Partner at GoDaddy, served as human resources generalist at Web.com between 2017 and 2018.

5’10 Sam Fuld joined the Standford Cardinals baseball team, where he earned All-American honors, three-time All-Pac-10 choice, and was the all-time leader in 266 runs scored and 1054 bats. Before Stanford, Fuld attended Phillips Exeter Academy.

  • The Cubs drafted Sam Fuld in the 24th round (703rd overall) of the 2003 draft, but he opted not to sign and went back to college.
  • The Chicago Cubs drafted Sam Fuld in the 10th round (306th overall) in the 2004 MLB draft. This time he signed with Chicago.
  • He started his professional career during the 2005 season with the Single-A Peoria Chiefs of the Midwest League.
  • He was added to the Chicago Cubs roster in September 2007.
  • Fuld made his MLB debut with the Chicago Cubs on September 5, 2007, against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
  • On October 4, 20099, he recorded his first home run.
  • The Chicago Cubs traded. Sam Fuld to the Tampa Bay Rays after the 2010 season.
  • On January 4, 2014, Fuld agreed to a minor league contract with the Oakland Athletics.
  • On April 20, 2014, the Minnesota Twins claimed Fuldd off waivers.
  • On July 31, 2014, the Minnesota Twins traded Sam Fuld to the Oakland Athletics.
  • After many injuries, Sam Fuld announced his retirement in November 2017.

After his retirement in November 2017, Sam Fuld was named major league player information coordinator of the Philadelphia Phillies.

From 2018 to 2020, Sam Fuld’s name was among those candidates for the Toronto Blue Jays, Texas Rangers, and Pittsburg Pirates, a managerial candidate for the Giants and the Phillies, and a finalist for the position of manager for the Red Sox.

The Philadelphia Phillies announced they named Sam Fuld their new general manager on December 22, 2020.

Sam Fuld met his wife Sarah Fuld, formerly known as Sarah Kolodner, while they both attended Phillips Exeter Academy. They got married in Des Moines, Iowa, in 2009. Sam and Sarah Fuld have since welcomed four amazing and beautiful children.

Sarah Fuld was born Sarah Elizabeth Kolodner on February 1, 1983, in Cold Spring Harbor, New York. Sarah is the daughter of mary Alice Kolodner a retired teacher at Cold Springs Harbor High School and former dean at the Friends Academy.

Her father, Michael Kolodner, originally from Baltimore, studied law at New York Law School (1980) and holds a B.A in Political Science from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Mr. Kolodner is the founding member of the Ohana Development Group and managing principal at Global Capital Markets Advisors and Goose Hill Capital; before that, he was the director and founding member of Polaris Direct.

Sarah Fuld graduated in 2001 from P{hillips Exeter and, in 2005, with a bachelor of arts in English from Princeton University, where she also was a member of Princeton’s lacrosse team (goalie), winning two national championships.

Sarah Fuld was an associate at the Bank of America from 2005 to 2009.
