Meet Chelsea McGee, she is the beautiful wife and mother of the children of Court McGee the superb Mixed Martial arts fighter who was declared clinically dead after the overdosing on at his cousin’s house in 2005; the near death experience was enough of a waking call for McGee who has been clean ever since, this how that story goes.
It was 2005, Court was dating his high school sweetheart Chelsea, and worked at an excavating company, had the love and support of his family, but the devil was just around the corner waiting to rip him apart, first it was alcohol, then prescription drugs, popping a mix of pills, soon he was sticking needles into his arm, he was lost, Chelsea left him, he was fired from his job and his parents kicked him out of the house..
“I was strung out, the addict, the drunk, the liar, the cheat, the thief,” McGee said. “That’s who I thought I was. I never thought I was going to amount to nothing.”
“I didn’t have any direction in my life,” McGee said. “I was miserable. took that pain away. Once I did it, I was hooked. I said this is my friend now. This took care of all my problems.
“She left and things really went off the deep end. I was such a horrible person that no one wanted to be around me.”
One night in 2005 his cousin found his lifeless, limp body on the bathroom floor, she tried to get to him but he was wedged between the door and the toilet.
Paramedics responded to a 911 call made by McGee’s cousin , once at the scene they performed CPR, and even used a defibrillator, but to no avail, until a cop spotted a syringe on the floor and told paramedics to treat him as an overdose patient, he received a dose of an opioid antagonist, which reversed the effects of the and was resuscitated.
“Thirty-two days later I still had no idea what state I was in,”
“I relapsed a couple of times,” he acknowledged. “I wanted to try and go out and see if I could have a beer or have some alcohol. I couldn’t just have one, I had to have all of them.
“So I stopped April 16, 2006 and haven’t had a drop since.”
