Meet Claire Patterson, she is the beautiful wife of NFL player Riley Patterson, the placekicker of the Detroit Lions. Before signing with the Lions in 2023, Patterson played with the Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots and the Minnesota Vikings; he also played college football with the Memphis Tigers at the University of Memphis under head coach Mike Norvell.
Claire Patterson
Riley Patterson wife, Claire Patterson, was born Claire Lauren Ebert in October 1997, in Glen Carbon, Illinois; she is one of three children born to Thomas and Cindy Hester Ebert.
Claire has two brothers: older brother Ryan, married to Savannah Caswick, and younger brother Alan Ebert, a star soccer player at Edwardsville High School and now a student at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Claire Patterson graduated in 2020, with a Health Science degree and a business minor from the University of Missouri. Claire is a client coordinator at Blue Chip Marketing Worldwide.
Before that, she was an office coordinator at the Integrity Rehab Group; while in college, Claire Patterson was an associate of Communication Services. She also interned at the Youth Development Department at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Back in 2017, she was an office assistant at Larson Engineering and a dance instructor at Studio E Dance Edwardsville in Illinois.
Claire and Riley Patterson met in high school, dated for seven years before they got engaged in 2020 and married in Cottleville, MO on April 15, 2022.
They spent their honeymoon in Aruba!

- Scored a total of 121 points, with 76-of-79 successful PAT and 15-of-20 FG.
- Achieved double-figure scoring in eight games.
- Contributed to the highest-scoring team in school history with a total of 601 points.
- Maintained an average of 59.3 over 105 kickoffs.
- Ensured 57 touchbacks and prevented any return for TD, ranking the kick return defense No.16 in FBS.
- Notched up one solo tackle.
- Scored a season-high 12 points twice, once against Mercer in the season opener and again versus UCF in the regular season.
- Made a career-long 52-yard FG at Missouri.
- Clinched the American Athletic Conference West Division title with a 10 point score in the regular-season finale win over Houston.
2019 (Junior)
- Participated in all 14 games, with a career highlight in the Cotton Bowl.
- Successfully connected on 23-of-25 FG and 65-of-66 PAT, making 64 consecutive PAT to conclude the year.
- Averaged 62.4 over 103 kickoffs and recorded 65 touchbacks.
- Scored double figures in seven games.
- Achieved a personal best with 21 points against Penn State in the Cotton Bowl, setting an NCAA bowl record with six made FG.
- Scored 18 points against SMU with 4-for-4 FG and 6-for-6 PAT.
- Connected on a career-long 52-yard FG against Cincinnati.
2020 (Senior)
- Joined the 8-3 Tigers who won the 2020 Montgomery Bowl and played in all 11 games.
- Named to the Lou Groza Award Watch List and was the AAC Special Teams Player of the Week (11/30).
- Made 15-of-21 field goal attempts, including a school record tying 56-yarder at SMU.
- Scored his first career walk-off game-winning field goal on a 47-yarder in Memphis’ 30-27 win against Houston.
- Achieved 12 points kicking vs. Houston and 10 points kicking vs. USF.
- Kicked the game-winning PAT in Memphis’ come-from-behind 34-33 win over USF.
- Played in the 2021 Reese’s Senior Bowl and received an invitation to the East-West Shrine Bowl.
- Was named a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award.
Riley Patterson NFL Career
- On May 5, 2021, Patterson joined the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent.
- Unfortunately, he was waived on August 16 due to an injury and subsequently placed on injured reserve.
- Later that month, on August 25, he was released from the team with an injury settlement.
New England Patriots
- Patterson found a new home with the New England Patriots, signing onto their practice squad on October 19, 2021.
Detroit Lions
- The Detroit Lions noticed his potential and signed Patterson off the Patriots’ practice squad on November 16, 2021.
- He made his NFL debut against the Chicago Bears, successfully making two extra points.
- Patterson scored his first field goal in a game against the Minnesota Vikings on December 5, 2021.
- In Week 15, he showed impressive performance by converting all three field goals and all three extra points, leading the Lions to a 30-12 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. This feat earned him the title of NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
- However, Patterson was eventually waived by the Lions on August 30, 2022.
Jacksonville Jaguars
- The following day, on August 31, 2022, the Jacksonville Jaguars claimed Patterson off waivers.
- In Week 16, he scored 13 points, helping the Jaguars secure a 19-3 win over the New York Jets. His performance earned him the title of AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
- On January 14, 2023, Patterson kicked the game-winning field goal in the Wild Card Round against the Los Angeles Chargers, contributing to one of the largest comebacks in playoff history.
- Patterson’s journey with the Jaguars ended when he was waived on May 25, 2023, following the signing of Brandon McManus.
Detroit Lions (Second Stint)
- Patterson’s career came full circle when he was traded back to the Detroit Lions on May 25, 2023, in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick.
