  • Made 15-of-21 field goal attempts, including a school record tying 56-yarder at SMU.
  • Scored his first career walk-off game-winning field goal on a 47-yarder in Memphis’ 30-27 win against Houston.
  • Achieved 12 points kicking vs. Houston and 10 points kicking vs. USF.
  • Kicked the game-winning PAT in Memphis’ come-from-behind 34-33 win over USF.
  • Played in the 2021 Reese’s Senior Bowl and received an invitation to the East-West Shrine Bowl.
  • Was named a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award.

Riley Patterson NFL Career

  • On May 5, 2021, Patterson joined the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent.
  • Unfortunately, he was waived on August 16 due to an injury and subsequently placed on injured reserve.
  • Later that month, on August 25, he was released from the team with an injury settlement.

New England Patriots

  • Patterson found a new home with the New England Patriots, signing onto their practice squad on October 19, 2021.

Detroit Lions

  • The Detroit Lions noticed his potential and signed Patterson off the Patriots’ practice squad on November 16, 2021.
  • He made his NFL debut against the Chicago Bears, successfully making two extra points.
  • Patterson scored his first field goal in a game against the Minnesota Vikings on December 5, 2021.
  • In Week 15, he showed impressive performance by converting all three field goals and all three extra points, leading the Lions to a 30-12 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. This feat earned him the title of NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
  • However, Patterson was eventually waived by the Lions on August 30, 2022.

Jacksonville Jaguars

  • The following day, on August 31, 2022, the Jacksonville Jaguars claimed Patterson off waivers.
  • In Week 16, he scored 13 points, helping the Jaguars secure a 19-3 win over the New York Jets. His performance earned him the title of AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
  • On January 14, 2023, Patterson kicked the game-winning field goal in the Wild Card Round against the Los Angeles Chargers, contributing to one of the largest comebacks in playoff history.
  • Patterson’s journey with the Jaguars ended when he was waived on May 25, 2023, following the signing of Brandon McManus.
