Meet Kevin Keatts Wife Georgette Keatts! Kevin is the head coach for the NC State Wolfpack men’s basketball at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Kevin Keatts a standout athlete in both football and basketball during his time at Heritage High School in Lynchburg, Virginia. He excelled as the starting quarterback, leading his football team to become the top-ranked team in the state with just one loss throughout his entire high school career. Additionally, Keatts showcased his skills on the basketball court, playing as a point guard for the Heritage High School basketball team.
After high school, Keatts continued his basketball career at Ferrum College in Virginia, where he played as a point guard for four seasons. By his senior year, he was averaging 13.3 points per game. Alongside his athletic endeavors, Keatts pursued his education, ultimately earning his Bachelor’s Degree while at Marshall University.
Growing up as an only child in Lynchburg, Virginia, Keatts was influenced by his father, who worked as a masonry instructor at Amherst County High School. Keatts spent weekends working as his father’s apprentice, gaining valuable skills and experiences.
Georgette Keatts
Georgette Keatts was born Georgette Mae Reed on November 06, 1973, in Lynchburg, Virginia. Georgette Keatts graduated with a nursing degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2006 and, in 2013, received her MSN from Bellarmine University.
Kevin and his wife, Georgette Keatts, have two sons together, K.J. and Kaden Keatts.

K.J Keatts
5’10 K.J. Keatts was born in Danville, Virginia, but due to his dad’s job, he and his family have lived in Louisville, Kentucky, and Wilmington, North Carolina. Before joining NC State, K.J attended Broughton High School as a freshman and sophomore, where he played on the varsity team during his sophomore year.
He then transferred to Grace Christian School for his junior and senior seasons, contributing to the varsity basketball team’s success with 14 wins in his junior year and 19 wins in his senior year, despite the COVID-shortened season. Following his junior year, K.J earned recognition as the Most Improved Player on the team. Additionally, he played ACAU Basketball for Garner Road and UC27 Dream Chasers.
At NC State, K.J made his debut in a season-opening win over Austin Peay, playing a season-high four minutes. He appeared in a total of nine games and grabbed one rebound in a win over Coppin State.
Kaden Keatts
The youngest of the Keatts boys is Kaden; like his older brother and father, he is passionate about basketball, but he is also a keen soccer player art Apex High School.
Kevin Keatts Coaching Career
Kevin Keatts began his coaching journey as an assistant at Southwestern Michigan College in the 1996–97 season. He then moved to Hargrave Military Academy, where he worked as an assistant for two seasons before being promoted to head coach in 1999. After a stint at Marshall as an assistant coach, he returned to Hargrave in 2003 and remained as head coach until 2011, boasting an impressive record of 262–17 over ten years.
In 2011, Keatts earned a degree from Marshall University and joined Rick Pitino’s staff at Louisville. He played a role in the Cardinals’ 2013 NCAA Division I national championship team, although the title was later vacated due to recruiting violations. Recognizing Keatts’ talent, Pitino promoted him to associate head coach in January 2014.
Keatts was appointed head coach of UNC Wilmington (UNCW) on March 27, 2014, where he achieved immediate success. In his first season, he led UNCW to its first conference championship in nine years and earned the CAA Conference Coach of the Year award. He repeated this success in his second year, becoming the first coach in CAA history to win the award in consecutive years.
On March 17, 2017, Keatts took over as the head coach at North Carolina State University (NC State), where he made an immediate impact by defeating Duke, North Carolina, and Wake Forest in his first attempt. Despite low preseason expectations, Keatts led NC State to a tied-for-third-place finish in the ACC and secured an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.
In 2024, despite a mediocre regular season record, Keatts’ NC State team made a remarkable run in the ACC tournament, winning five consecutive games against top-ranked opponents to secure the conference’s automatic NCAA tournament bid. They continued their success by advancing to the Final Four as the sixth-ever 11 seed to achieve this feat.
