Andre Berto a.k.a “The Beast” will face “Showtime” Mayweather this weekend! The unbeaten Mayweather will defend the welterweight world title against Andre Berto and says it will be his last fight.

Andre Berto might not be undefeated but it sure makes quite the opponent for Mayweather. He’s been dominating in the ring ever since his father introduced him to boxing as a child. Following an impressive amateur career, the Florida native became a world champion at 147 pounds.
The 2-time Welterweight World Champion and 2004 Haitian Olympian is also known as an advocate for Haitian relief efforts. Andre Berto wasn’t born in Haiti, but is the country from where his family emigrated in 1980.
The native of Winter Haven, Florida, was born Andre Michael Berto September 7, 1983. His father is a former professional mixed martial artist and from where he draws his passion for fighting. Both of his siblings, James Edson Berto and sister Revelina Berto are MMA fighters.
Beto’s skill quickly stand out and was a national Golden Gloves champion in 2001 and 2003, a three-time U.S. Amateur Championship medalist and won a bronze medal at the 2003 World Amateur Championships. He also won 22 state titles in Florida. The 5 ft 6 fighter made his professional debut in Little Rock, Arkansas, in December 2004, gaining a third-round technical knockout of Michael Robinson. In 2006 he was named ESPN.com’s Prospect of the Year.
Andre Berto won his first world championship in June 2008 with a seventh-round TKO against Miguel Angel Rodriguez. He lost his belt in April 2011 to Victor Ortiz.
His most recent bout was last March against, Josesito Lopez, who gave him his 30th professional win.
With a total of 30 wins, 3 losses and 23 KO’s Berto sure knows what it is to be on the top and how to resurface again and again.
