Allison Weight
Allison Weight is the lovely and supportive wife of NHL player turned exec and coach, Doug Weight. Her NHL hubby currently serves as assistant general manager for the New York Islanders.
Allison’s husband was born January 21, 1971. The Detroit, Mich. native attended Lake Superior State University.
He was drafted 34th overall in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers. Less than two seasons into his pro career, he was traded to the Oilers, for whom he played the next eight seasons. The playmaking center, who served as team captain his final two seasons in Edmonton, set career highs for assists (79) and points (104) during the 1995-96 campaign.
After three-plus seasons in St. Louis, Weight was traded to Carolina, where he won the Stanley Cup in 2006.
The final five seasons of his career were spent with the Blues (2006-08), Ducks (2008) and lastly the Islanders. He was the recipient of the 2011 King Clancy Memorial Trophy for leadership and humanitarian contributions.
Doug retired in 2011 after playing 19 seasons. He immediately was named assistant coach and special assistant to the GM. Weight was inducted into the USA Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013.
Dough who was recently named the Islanders’ interim coach, has been married to his lovely wife, Allison Weight for years.
Allison Weight and her husband have been married for close to 20-years.
When her husband signed with the Islanders as a free agent in 2008, the blonde also gained a new family. She’s helped foster that charitable culture to her team as a member of the Islanders Community.
She’s been involved in many of the community events and charitable initiatives, that without ladies like her, just wouldn’t be possible at all.
During her husband’s last two years as the team’s captain, she was described as the heart of the wives and girlfriends group. One of them was quoted saying about Allison Weight
“Coming to a new team is always a fun, but difficult transition and Allison couldn’t have made me feel more welcome within the Islanders organization,”
Aside from being a busy and very much involved NHL wag, Allison Weight is the proud mother of the couple’s three children, Danny, Addison, and Ryan.
