Max Scherzer Wife
Erica May Scherzer is the stunning wife of Max Scherzer, the MLB pitcher who is currently a player with the Texas Rangers. He previously played with the Detroit Lions, Arizona Diamondbacks, Washington Nationals, New York Mets, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Before the MLB, Scherzer, a Cy Young Award recipient, played college baseball at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.
Erica May Scherzer
Erica May Scherzer is an MLB Wag like no other; what makes her unique is not that she is incredibly beautiful, because all of our FABWAGS are, without exceptions. Mrs. May Scherzer, like her hubby, is a baseball pitcher, well she used to be, a fine good one, I must add.
Erica May Scherzer was born on January 30, 1986, in Englewood, Colorado. She attended Cherry Creek High School and was the starting pitcher on the softball team.
Mrs. Scherzer then attended the University of Missouri after committing to Mizzou during her senior year of high school.
How did Max Scherzer meet his wife?
Before Max attended college, he was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 43rd round, 1291st overall in the 2004 MLB Draft, but he didn’t sign any contract, he enrolled at the University of Missouri, where he met his wife Erica and started dating in 2004, their freshman year
We are not sure where it happened, but after eight years of dating, he popped the question; she said yes! She tweeted a picture earlier in the year posting:
“I have the best fiancee! He got my new fav (and hopefully future Raider) Jarvis Jones’, autograph for me!”
Referring to the autograph her thoughtful hubby got for her, how sweet a guy who knows what his girl likes! in case you didn’t know, she is a huge Oakland Raiders fan.
Erica is pretty active and supportive of her guy, she is big on charity work and recently “ran for the cure” during Detroit’s marathon battling breast cancer.
She can always be seen accompanying her man whether for games or helping in their work with kids. Erica is been unconditional to the pitcher, helping him through rough times when last year Max’s only brother Alex committed suicide.
Now Erica’s husband dedicates every game to his late brother.
We found a picture of Erica taken a couple of years ago. Breathless!!!
Erica and Max married in Scottsdale, Arizona, on November 16, 2013.
After the wedding, the newlyweds flew to New Zealand for their honeymoon.
They are for sure animal lovers; you can tell by the man’s photos of their adorable dogs. I found this quite funny, yet interesting.
Erica May Scherzer and Max Scherzer have since welcomed four children, including daughters Brooke, born on November 29, 2017, and Kacey, born on July 4, 2019. They welcomed their son Derek on May 2, 2021, and their fourth child and third girl, Nikki Louise, on January 30, 20 23
Max Scherzer Eyes
Max’s right eye is blue, while the left one is brown; this is because he was born with heterochromia iridium.
Max Scherzer MLB Career
Scherzer a right-handed starting pitcher who’s as fierce as they come. That’s Max Scherzer for you, or as fans love to call him, “Mad Max,” a nickname inspired by the popular movie series. His record speaks volumes: an eight-time MLB All-Star, three-time Cy Young Award winner, and a two-time no-hitter pitcher. Plus, he was a crucial part of the Nationals’ World Series victory in 2019.
Back in 2006, the Arizona Diamondbacks saw his potential, selecting him as the 11th overall pick in the amateur draft. Two years later, he made his debut in Major League Baseball. By 2009, he was traded to the Detroit Tigers where he shone brightly.
With the Tigers, he bagged two American League All-Star titles, won the 2013 American League Cy Young Award, and helped them secure four straight American League Central titles from 2011 to 2014.
In 2015, Scherzer inked a seven-year, $210 million contract with the Nationals. At the time, it was one of the biggest deals in sports history. The same year, he became the sixth pitcher in MLB history to pull off multiple no-hitters in a single season.
Then in 2016, he matched the major league nine-inning single-game strikeout record with 20. This feat made him the second player to achieve both a no-hitter and over 20 strikeouts in nine innings in the same game.
He also became the youngest pitcher to defeat all 30 MLB teams during his career. During his stay with the Nationals, he won the NL Cy Young Award twice, made the National League All-Star Team five times, and played a critical role in their 2019 World Series win.
Over the years, Scherzer has been a part of several teams including the Arizona Diamondbacks (2008–2009), Detroit Tigers (2010–2014), Washington Nationals (2015–2021), Los Angeles Dodgers (2021), and New York Mets (2022–2023).
In July 2023, he was traded to the Texas Rangers along with $35.5 million in cash for shortstop prospect Luisangel Acuña. As part of the deal, Scherzer agreed to his 2024 player option worth over $43 million.
He made quite an entrance with the Rangers, pitching six innings in his debut, allowing seven hits, and three earned runs while recording two walks and nine strikeouts.
Max Scherzer Contract
On November 29, 2021, Scherzer signed a three-year, $130 million contract with the New York Mets. He subsequently exercised a $43.3 million player option for 2024 with the Rangers on July 29, 2023.
