Jong Jin Kim
Meet Mr. Jong Jin Kim he is the loving, funny and amazing father of American/ Korean Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim. She was 16, when became the first athlete in X Games history to win three gold medals. Chloe gives all the credit to her parents, however mostly to her dad, who she is taking to the Winter Olympics in Korea, Mr. Kim’s hometown.
Chloe wasn’t allowed to join the USA Olympic Team during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, but that change now that the four-time X Games champ, is 17, old enough to make it into the team.
5’5″ Chloe Kim was born in Long Beach, California on April 23, 2000, to Jong Jin Kim and his beautiful wife Boran Yun Kim. Jong and Boran immigrated to the US from Korea more than 20 years ago.
Around 2004, Jong Jin hoped to try snowboarding, but his wife refused to join him, therefore he took his young daughter to Mountain High, California, a local resort close to their house where together Chloe met the sport that became her passion; two years later six-year-old Chloe and a member of the Team Mountain High was a competitor.
Not long after that. Mr, Kim took the decision to quit his engineering job and dedicated his body and soul to his daughter’s career.
“He went home and just told my mom; ‘I’m done working, I’m going to make my daughter an Olympian,'” Kim says.
Jong left South Korea in 1982, he settled in California where he studied engineering at California State University, Long Beach.
