Stefano Caruso
Meet Stefano Caruso; he is a German/ Italian ice skater who also happens to be the boyfriend of French figure skater Gabriella Papadakis, whose partner on the ice is French skater Guillaume Cizeron.
5’11” Stefano Caruso was born in Rome, Italy on April 19, 1987, to an Italian father and Hungarian mother. He started skating in Mentana, Rome when he was eight. Stefano also studied communications and languages in Bergamo.
In 2002, he teamed up with Isabella Pajardi, together they placed 9th at the 2008 World Junior Championships and won the Italian National Junior Championships that same year, they went their separate ways in 2010.
That same year, Stefano now representing Germany teamed up with Tanja Kolbe; they won their first bronze medal at the 2011 Istanbul Cup and the NRW Trophy. They subsequently won the silver at the 2012 German Championships, plus two bronze medals at the Volvo Open Cup and New Year’s Cup.
Caruso and Kolbe finished 7th at the 2013 Trophee Eric Bompard; before they won two more bronze medals at the Ondrej Nepela Trophy and the Ice Challenge. They split up after they competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia where they placed 19th.
Caruso, ended his competitive career after Sochi; he is nowadays a coach alongside Barbara Fusar-Poli in Milan’s Agora Ice Rink.
