Giff Smith Wife
Meet Jennifer Smith! This beautiful lady is the lovely wife of NFL coach Giff Smith, the outside linebacker coach for the Los Angeles Chargers. Coach Smith also serves as interim coach for the Chargers following Brandon Staley‘s firing after the Chargers lost 63-21 against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 15.
Giff Smith previously served as defensive line coach for the Tennessee Titans from 2014 to 15 and for the Buffalo Bills from 2010 to 2012. Before the NFL, he was a defensive line coach at Georgia Tech, Tulane, Arkansas, the University of Georgia, and Georgia Southern, his alma mater.

Giff Smith, born Gifford Clark Smith, on October 12, 1968, in Mableton, Georgia has been happily married to his wife Jennifer Smith for nearly three decades. They have two children together, Ava and Sam Smith.
Jenny Smith was born Jennifer Anne Erickson on February 11, 1972.
Giff Smith College Coaching Career
- Smith had an illustrious football career at Georgia Southern, where he was a three-time All-America defensive end and part of three NCAA I-AA national title teams (1986, ’89-90).
- He began his coaching journey as a graduate assistant at Arkansas (1991-93) and Georgia (1994-95).
- Later, he coached wide receivers and the secondary at Georgia Southern (1996-98) before transitioning to Tulane as the defensive line coach (1999-2003).
- Smith served as the defensive line coach at Georgia Tech for six seasons (2004-09), taking on additional responsibilities as the recruiting coordinator in 2006. His team led the country in sacks (47) in 2007.
- Joe Anoaʻi, one of Smith’s standout players at Georgia Tech, later became a successful wrestler known as Roman Reigns in the WWE.
- Three other linemen from Smith’s tenure at Georgia Tech, Michael Johnson, Vance Walker, and Derrick Morgan, went on to play in the NFL.
Giff Smith NFL Coaching Career
- In 2010, Smith moved to the NFL, becoming the defensive line coach for the Buffalo Bills (2010-12). During this period, Kyle Williams made it to his first two Pro Bowls, and Mario Williams had a 10.5-sack season.
- In 2014, the Tennessee Titans appointed Giff Smith as their new Defensive line coach.
- He coached the Los Angeles Chargers in 2016, as a defensive line coach; in 2022 was promoted to defensive linebackers coach.
- On December 15, 2023, the Chargers appointed him interim coach for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
