Jarrett Stidham College
Jarrett Ryan Stidham was born on August 8, 1996, in Corbin, Kentucky.He is one of three sons born to Juder and Rochelle Stidham; also proud parents of his brothers Juder and Dustin.
Jarrett attended at Stephenville High School in Texas. He initially committed to play at Texas Tech University; however, opted to attend at Baylor instead.
In 2015, Stidham joined Baylor as a freshman and was chosen to be the backup for Seth Russell. He got his chance on the field in the initial seven games, where he successfully completed 24 out of 28 passes, which included six touchdowns and covered 331 yards. When Russell had to end his season due to a neck injury during the seventh game, Stidham was promoted to the starting position.
His first start was against Kansas State, where he completed 23 out of 33 passes and scored three passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown, totaling 419 yards. During his second start against Oklahoma, he sustained a back injury in the first quarter but managed to play through. Despite his injury, he completed 16 out of 27 passes, covering 257 yards and scoring two touchdowns, though they suffered a 44-34 loss.
The next week, he started against Oklahoma State despite questions about his fitness. Unfortunately, he injured his hand and ankle in the first half and couldn’t return for the second half. On November 25, Art Briles, Baylor’s head coach, revealed that Stidham had chipped a bone in his ankle and would be out for the rest of the regular season. There was hope he might return for the bowl game, but on December 19, it was announced that he would also miss the 2015 Russell Athletic Bowl.
Following a scandal at Baylor that led to a major shake-up in the coaching staff, and his general dissatisfaction with being a backup to Seth Russell, Stidham made the decision to leave Baylor on July 7, 2016.
Stidham then spent a semester at McLennan Community College without playing football before announcing his transfer to Auburn University on December 10, 2016. By August 14, he was named as Auburn’s starting quarterback for the 2017 season. Under his leadership, Auburn won the SEC West Division Championship with victories over top-ranked Georgia and Alabama. However, they were defeated by UCF in the Peach Bowl. Jarrett Stidham announced he would declare for the 2019 NFL Draft, forgoing his final year of eligibility on December 4, 2018.

New England Patriots
On April 27, 2019, , The Patriots selected Jarrett Stidham in the fourth round (133rd Overall) in the 2019 NFL Draft. He signed his rookie levelcontract with New England on May 10, 2019.
In the 2019 training camp, Stidham secured the role of the second-string backup to Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and chose number 4 for his jersey. He made his debut in Week 3 against the New York Jets, stepping in for Brady in the fourth quarter with the Patriots leading 30-7. Despite throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown, the Patriots still won 30-14.
In 2020, when Brady left the Patriots, Stidham was viewed as a potential successor. However, the team recruited former MVP Cam Newton, who was soon announced as the starting quarterback. Stidham moved up to the second-string position when Newton tested positive for COVID-19. He had his first career touchdown pass but was also intercepted twice in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs, which the Patriots lost 26-10.
Stidham continued to make appearances throughout the season, stepping in during games against the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Chargers, and Los Angeles Rams. Despite the team’s losses and Newton’s struggles, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick confirmed that Newton would remain the starting quarterback.
In 2021, following off-season back surgery, Stidham started the season on the reserve physically unable to perform list. He was activated in November, but as the third-string quarterback behind rookie Mac Jones and Brian Hoyer. He didn’t see any play time that year.
Las Vegas Raiders
Jarrett Stidham was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders along with a 2023 seventh-round draft pick on May 13, 2022, in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The move saw him reunite with Raiders’ head coach Josh McDaniels, who had previously served as the offensive coordinator during Stidham’s three-year stint with the Patriots. On August 30, Stidham was declared the backup quarterback to Derek Carr, and he was the sole backup quarterback included in the initial 53-man roster.
With only two games left in the regular season, on December 28, 2022, Stidham was promoted to the starting quarterback position for the first time in his professional career after the Raiders decided to bench Carr. In his debut as a starter, Stidham showcased a strong performance, throwing for 365 yards and scoring three touchdowns, despite two interceptions. However, the Raiders suffered a narrow 37–34 defeat in overtime against the San Francisco 49ers.
Denver Broncos
Jarrett Stidham inked a deal with the Denver Broncos for two years, worth $10 million, on March 13, 2023. Fast forward to December 27, 2023, the Broncos declared that Stidham would be the starting quarterback for the season’s last two games, following the decision to bench Russell Wilson.

On March 14, 2023, Jarrett Stidham signed a two-year, $10 million contract with the Denver Broncos. The deal included a $2 million signing bonus, $5 million guarantee and an annual salary of $5 million.
