Manchester United midfielder and Player of the Year, Michael Carrick, is married to Lisa Roughead, a Pilates instructor with a business degree. The couple tied the knot in the exclusive Stapleford Park Hotel in Leicestershire on June 16, 2007, the same date Carrick’s national teammates, Gary Neville and Steven Gerrard held their own weddings.
The bride was 24 years old. She wore an ivory Christian Lacroix gown with a white veil and a 10ft chiffon train.
The ceremony was held in the Norman church in nearby Wymondham, by Rev Mary Samuels. Before celebrating the wedding she said:
“Both Michael and Lisa have been to see me. They seemed a really very ordinary North-East couple who had known one another since school. I wished them well. I did not know who they were until my son told me.”
Lisa and Michael were childhood sweethearts, they grew up just a few streets away from each other and were both pupils at Burnside Community High School in Wallsend, Tyne and Wear. They dated for over a decade before getting married. The cute couple now have a daughter, Louise, and a son, Jacey. The family lives in a £4million Cheshire mansion.
Lisa Roughead, now named Lisa Carrick, has always preferred to live with low profile, despite her husband’s fame.
