Tyler Bass, better half Ryan, was born Ryan Elizabeth Tuten on March 18, 1998, in Ocala, Florida; she is one of three children born to Nancy Greiner Tuten and Rick Tuten, also proud parents to Ryan’s older siblings Kinley and Chase.
Ryan’s father, Rick Tuten, born Richard Lamar Tuten, on January 5, 1965, was a punter in the NFL, notably with the Seattle Seahawks. In the 1992 NFL season, Tuten achieved the fourth-highest number of punts in a season in league history, punting the ball 108 times. During that season, he accumulated 4,760 yards with an impressive average of 44.1 yards per punt.
In 1994, Tuten earned a spot in the Pro Bowl and continued to showcase his punting prowess. He punted the ball 91 times, covering 3,905 yards with an average of 42.9 yards per punt. Notably, he contributed to the scoring with a two-point conversion, marking the only points of his career. Tuten also celebrated a Super Bowl championship with the St. Louis Rams, although he couldn’t play in the game due to injury.
In 1998, during his tenure with the Seattle Seahawks, Tuten gained recognition as the league’s strongest man pound-for-pound, as designated by Flex magazine.
Tragically, Richard Lamar Tuten passed away unexpectedly at the age of 52 while on vacation with his wife in Costa Rica in 2017.
Ryan Tuten Excelled in volleyball at Trinity Catholic under coach Jeff Reavis for three seasons, earning first-team all-county recognition in 2015 and second-team honors in 2014. Demonstrated outstanding performance with 510 kills, 152 digs, 33 aces, and 14.5 blocks during her senior year, leading the county in kills and kills per set. Impressive junior campaign with 496 kills. Played a key role in guiding the Celtics to a runner-up state finish in 2015 and securing four consecutive district championships. Contributed to the Ocala Power United 18 Rox club team coached by Reavis, achieving national advancement in 16s and 17s seasons. Maintained a four-year presence on the academic honor roll.
She later enrolled at Georgia Southern, where not only she met and started. dating Tyler but also continued to excelled in volleyball.
Freshman (2016): In the debut season, played in 13 matches and 25 sets, totaling 10 kills, 13 digs, and five aces. Recorded a season-best 10 digs, along with four kills and two aces against Savannah State on September 2. Collected two digs and two kills at Coastal Carolina on November 4.
Sophomore (2017): Played in nine matches and 10 sets, registering an ace and six digs.
Junior (2018): Participated in 16 matches with six starts, accumulating 41 digs and 11 service aces. Achieved a season-high three kills against Akron on September 7 and posted 11 digs with two aces in the same match. Contributed nine digs in a victory over North Dakota State.
Senior (2019): In the final season, recorded 32 kills, 65 digs, five blocks, and four aces in 72 sets. Achieved career highs with 16 kills, 10 digs, and three blocks against Louisiana on October 18. Concluded the career with a total of 47 kills, 125 digs, 21 aces, and six blocks in 62 matches.
After graduating with a marketing degree from Georgia Southern in 2020, Ryan Tuten, has been a sales associate at Orangetheory Fitness in Orchard Park, New York.
Earlier experience includes a role as a Retail Salesworker at BALCONY GYMNASTICS & PERSONAL FITNESS, INC. from January 2014 to June 2015 in Ocala. Ryan served as a Social Media Marketing Intern at Boyd Real Estate, LLC. from June 2018 to August 2018 in the Ocala, Florida Area. In May 2020 to December 2020, she worked as a Professional Clothier at Tom James Company in Nashville, Tennessee, United States.
